Airport to Stage Musical Premiere
"Two teenage kids...
nearly two centuries and a thousand miles apart....
changed the world forever!"
A new music project involving students from Woodlands School, Southampton.
In 1940, teenager Geoffrey Wellum was one of the R.A.F’s youngest Spitfire pilots who fought and survived the Battle of Britain with one of the most famous fighting Squadrons in the world – the legendary 92 Squadron.
In 1769, the young teenage composer, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart left home in Salzburg, on yet another trip around Europe, also about to change the world!
To celebrate 100 years of flight, and the part that Southampton Airport has played, including the first test flight of the legendary 2nd World War Spitfire plane, a new musical work, taking as its starting point, Mozart's experiences, together with the inspiration for flight, is going to be created by students at Woodlands School over the coming four weeks, and the premiere will take place in the arrivals hall at the airport!
If you are going to be involved in the Fly Away Mozart project co-run by media & concert hall composer Michael Omer & the London Mozart Players, then we want to hear from you HERE!
Please leave comments as the project develops!
