FLY AWAY MOZART -
COMPOSER LAUNCHES EXCITING PROJECT
It was a bit chilly, but when students from Woodlands Community College visited Southampton Airport on a grey Thursday in November, they were all very upbeat about the upcoming project with composer Michael Omer, which will climax in a performance of their new composition inspired by flight, actually taking place in the airport in December!
Accompanied by Head of Music Owen Bellman, and members of the London Mozart Players, including managing director Simon Funnell - together with team leader Kevin Appleby who runs the Turner Sims Concert Hall in Southampton, Michael and a lively bunch of students were able to get to know eachother during a tour of the airport, and talk about initial ideas for their new piece of music.
LOTS OF IDEAS
Back at Woodlands Community College, after lunch, Michael gave a presentation to the students and staff about his work composing for film and television, followed by a lively discussion session with students, on how the creative process would develop over the coming four short weeks!
CHECK BACK SOON, AND LEAVE COMMENTS,ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE ONE OF THE GROUP OF STUDENTS TAKING PART
